Golf and other things

After not playing golf for more that 2 years, I was back on the course yesterday morning. What a painful experience — could not even break 100. When last I played I shot in the mid to lower 80’s so this was an experience by itself. This morning my legs and back are sore with blisters on my heels. But I also know after a couple of rounds everything will be getting back to normal again.

Talking about golf. Saw this post from Mr BusinessGolf today on Ernie’s prediction that he, Ernie, will catch Tiger in 3 years time and be #1 again. Mr BusinessGolf is predicting that it will be a lot sooner. I am a patriotic supported of Ernie, and know him personally, but do not agree with Mr BusinessGolf. Ernie must first gets his mental side in order before he will catch Tiger on anybody else for that matter.

Oh and lastly, my spanking new Ford Focus 1.6 SI Sport was delivered to me yesterday afternoon. Luckily I am on holiday so will take it for a leisurely drive to the beach today.

Back at being a official golf club member again

After a bit more than 2 years, I again today joined my old golf club. Luckily they still had all my detail and even got my old membership number back which meant that I did not even need a new membership card.

The bad side is that they also had all my old scores which meant I will start with the handicap I had when I left the club. That was a 15 and I am nowhere near a 15 handicap golfer at the moment. Well we will see tomorrow when I will venture out on the green grass again.

Rugby – Crooked ref

What a crooked ref …. just saw the game between WP and Blue Bulls and I have never in my live seen a ref that is so crooked. Knock-on happen right in front of him and he ignores it. He was one sided, inconsistent, and warn but never go through with the warnings. I get the distinct feeling that he was paid or bribed.

It is times like this were team captains should be allowed to do something like requesting a new ref or taking their team of the field.

Most of you might say it is sour grapes because province lost. Maybe, and I will be the first that will say that WP did not deserve to win in the end. But it still does not excuse the way the ref handled the game. But as we also know nothing will be done about it.

Oh for those that do not know WP lost 45-30.

Springbok Rugby: What a farce

After watching yesterday test between SA and NZ (btw for those that does not know, the score was NZ:45 SA:26), I am seriously starting to think that rugby in SA is a big farce. Then White goes on to say that there is no need to panic. Well he is obviously living in a dream world.

It is time he is brought to book and fired and also then select the players that is on form and not has beens like John Smit, Percy and the rest.

Did he cheat or did he not?

The big question after this weekend’s Monaco F1 GP is whether Michael cheated during the last few seconds of qualifying. Well he claims he did not, but can we believe him. We all know how important it is to be on pole in Monaco.

I believe he did cheat or lets rather say he deliberately stalled his car to prevent Alonso beating his time. Before you all come shouting at me I just want to say that I am a Ferrari supported.

SA vs Australia on 12 March

Everybody says, what a great game of cricket. Yes it was exciting and good that SA won but I do not think it was a great cricket game. I always thought that cricket is a contest between bat and ball and yesterday that did not happen. It was a one sided batting performance by both teams. The bowling and fielding team had no say in the game and that cannot be good for cricket. It was purely of entertainment value for the spectators, nothing else.

I am giving up!

After the debacle of the rugby game yesterday between the Stormers and the Crusaders I have decided to five up my support to the Stormers. Until such time they look like a team that deserves to be in the top 4 of the Super 12/14, I will keep my mouth shut and say or write nothing.

I think this will be a long time since this year they not going to get anywhere. And with the new Super 14 next year I have even less hope. Please comment if you disagree.

What is going on with SA rugby?

No blog written by a South African is complete without some sport content. Luckily this weekend no South African team is playing but looking at the past 5 weeks, out of 20 games to have 2 wins and 1 draw is pathetic.

I am an avid supporter of the Stormers but even they are playing like a bunch of under thirteens. In fact most under thirteens play a lot better rugby than they do.
